The Treasure Map We Didn’t Know We Had

There’s this funny parallel I’ve been thinking about lately. You know that moment in National Treasure where Ben Gates starts explaining to Abigail that there’s a treasure map on the back of the Declaration of Independence? She’s all in until that part, and then—boom—that’s when the room goes cold. That’s when she’s like, “Okay, you lost me.”

I can’t help but feel a little like Ben right now. I’m trying to show people something I know is there—something that’s been hiding in plain sight. I’m talking about policies and ideas that seem impossible because no one’s dared to try them. And I’m saying, “Hey, we could do this. We could literally change the entire system just by voting.”

And you know what? That’s when people stop listening. Just like Ben with his treasure map, they hear the part about overthrowing the government through democracy, and they check out. “Yeah, okay, sure. Good luck with that, buddy.”

But here’s the thing: the map isn’t the crazy part. The map is real. And the more you look at it, the more it makes sense. The treasure I’m chasing isn’t gold or jewels—it’s a better system. One that works for everyone.

In National Treasure, Ben wasn’t hunting for riches to keep for himself. He wanted to share it with the world. And that’s exactly what this movement is about. I’m not looking for power or recognition. I’m looking for something that belongs to all of us: fairness, equity, and a government that actually reflects the people it serves.

The difference is, my treasure map isn’t written in invisible ink. It’s right here, in plain sight. The policies and ideas I’m laying out are rooted in common sense, logic, and the needs of everyday Americans. The only thing standing in the way is our willingness to believe it’s possible—and to act on it.

And like Ben, I’m not waiting around for everyone to get on board before I start. The first steps are already in motion. If you think this sounds crazy, I get it. I really do. But sometimes, the craziest ideas are the ones that make the most sense once you take a closer look.

Because at the end of the day, this isn’t about me. It’s about the treasure that’s waiting for all of us. A system that works. A future we can all believe in. And a chance to prove that the map we’ve been searching for has been right in front of us all along.
